CookieLove for CogDog

By , September 3, 2011 3:53 pm

Alan Levine, aka CogDog, has been one of my heroes since my first forays into education and technology (working with Macromedia Director, making Gwichin Language CDs). My admiration is not limited to those narrow confines, though, because beneath and through all of that are more important qualities: authenticity, humility, friendliness, and openness.

Tomorrow (September 4) you can join me, and many others, in celebrating Alan’s late mother… and Alan:

In tribute to Alan Levine’s mom, who passed away unexpectedly last weekend, we’d like to invite you to participate in Cookies for Cogdog. One of the wonderful things that Alan’s mom did was bake chocolate chip cookies every Sunday and then give them away to strangers. This Sunday, September 4th, we’re hoping to get people to follow in her footsteps. Bake some cookies and then brighten a stranger’s day by giving them away.

I never met Alan’s mom, though I feel like I did thanks to his stories and her appearances on his site, and his recent tribute was powerful. I can’t think of a better way to spend some time Sunday than baking and sharing in honor of the Cookielady, even as I wish I could do more.
