Indefinite Hiatus

Subject line about says it all.

For most it shouldn’t matter. I’m just one of myriad blogs that aren’t without audience but aren’t top-tier either. My contributions are easily replaced. I’ve gathered enough useful information to perform my job well for the next five years and can add another five just by lurking. I’ve always been more of an observer of ideas than a generator of them.

For those who know me more personally: don’t worry. I’m not in danger! I’m just… done. Not finished. Done. Done blogging, micro- and otherwise. Not forever (no such thing) and not for a day. As I started saying, the subject line says it all.

Play nice.

That’s a bummer, but I understand the “done” part. God speed the end of the end, and be well in the interim.

  2. Scott Leslie Says:

You know it goes without saying that you’re a welcome part of the conversation whenever and if ever you do feel like joining in.

  3. jg Says:

Will miss it, C. But I’ll keep watching. Be well.

oh, Chris, I’ll be clicking automatically for a long time. I only read two or three blogs, but you’re one. I learn a lot from your blog, though most of it goes right over my head. Guess I’ll have to invest in postcard postage. Beverly (echoing jg: Be well)

  5. Alec Couros Says:

’til we meet again, best of luck, your voice will be missed.

  6. Jen Says:

Won’t be the same without your voice.

  7. Jason Priem Says:

I wouldn’t say that your contributions are “easily replaced” at all. But I understand that sometimes one needs a break. Good luck in your post-blog life!

  8. AJ Says:

Well, darn for me. I understand where you are coming from, I just wished I had not come late to the Ruminate party. We seem to share the same approach on many things I was happy to see a kindred spirit online.

I do hope you will feel compelled one day to “keep in touch”.

  9. Oedipa Says:

I know how it is. One day I just stopped blogging too. Sometimes I wish I hadn’t, sometimes I’m glad I did. The narrative in your head never stops though.

I did get your letter, BTW. Look for an email from me. I was in NYC until recently.

Chris – I’ll miss your contribution. You’re on my “required reading” list.Enjoy the break/rest/whatever.

Chris, with my new super duper web skills (thank you) I reply. You posted some great comics at another location (I don’t have them straight) but I also found this ‘place’ interesting. I am not sure if condolences are in order…its seems good to respect a solid “done”. Have a great summer! Diane (of recent iTeach fame).

  12. Jeffrey Keefer Says:

Enjoy the down time. Then again, is there really such a thing? Perhaps it is better stated as some time spent a bit differently. Refreshing just thinking about it.

    See you online again soon.

  13. rosie Says:

Oh sure – I finally figure out where I’m supposed to be and get caught up on things, just as the party ends. Dagnabbit anyway.

Ya know – you think your words aren’t valued, but the truth is they’re probably much more valued than you’ll ever know. Someone keeps encouraging me to write for much the same reasons… hmmm… No doubt you’ll be greatly missed and will leave a huge void.

  14. Brian Says:

All I can do is add my assent to the sentiments already commented. When you come back, I’ll be reading and clicking.

  15. Marc Hugentobler Says:

    I luv you man….
take care and see you around.
    Thanks,
    Marc

  16. Cole Says:

Enjoy the time away and if/when you feel like returning my reader will still be tuned in. I’ll miss it though — take it easy!

  17. Teddy Says:

Hey, Chris, I just realized I hadn’t heard anything from you lately on Twitter, so I checked to see what’s happening with you. You know, of course, that I fully understand (I too am more of an observer), but I selfishly hope you’ll return from your “indefinite hiatus” sooner rather than later. The blogosphere needs people who spend more time listening and reflecting than they do babbling. You’re one of the good ones! :)

  18. Alan Says:

    Dude, come back.

You are the worst judge of your impact.

  19. Clint Lalonde Says:

Echo what has been said above. I’ll be here when/if you decide to come back.

  20. Mikhail Says:

Oh wow. I have been on something of a hiatus and missed this. Godspeed. Come on back.
