MOOCin’ it up

Reasons I’m “participating”1 in the #Change11 MOOC:
- Because MOOC sounds kind of like “kook”2
- Because I’m already massive so I might as well figure out how to be open3
- Because MOOCs are the new Mauve and
- Because all the kool kids are doing it4
- Because the ‘C’ in MOOC could stand for Conference or Constellation or Collective but not Corporation
- Because things that people do or make but have no definition of are usually interesting things for me5
- Because I can’t get enough of those short Canadians6
- Because I need evidence that GeorgeDave are not a single intellectual organism
- Because it’s 36 freaking weeks long, which is kind of like The Running Man7 of education
- Because someday I hope to know what Connectivism actually is
- Because my Erdős number with many of the participants is– and I hope with many other will become– 18
- Because this counts as participation9
- you must interpret this term broadly as you might also interpret things like how I “fold” origami, “write” poems, and “compose” lists like this in threes… which is to say I kind of do things that slightly resemble those activities [↩]
- or “cookie,” which is almost as good. [↩]
- in a good way [↩]
- yo [↩]
- cf. pornography, critical thinking, culture, Connectivism, free verse [↩]
- to be fair, Stephen isn’t really short, but George and Dave really bring the average down [↩]
- or Death Run [↩]
- sadly my Erdős–Bacon number is essentially infinity [↩]
- but Mr. Lott, how do you assess that? [↩]
